Patti sighed as she looked at the special locket that lay in her palm, it was pretty much sacred to her. It was given to her by her friend Teriel. She had known the boy since the two were babies under a year old. "Teriel... Why did you have to leave..." She said softly to herself, her eyes watering lightly. Wiping away her tears she kept on her way to the races.
It was apparently the pulling division class for this race. She wondered who would be racing in this one. That is until she saw someone who would racing in the division. "Teriel!!" She called to the boy with wolf-like ears and fluffy curled tail she knew all to well. "I've missed you so much, Teriel!" She said as she ran over and hugged him, burying her face into his shirt.

The last few weeks had been rather strange with odd requests from her superiors, travels and goals. Sent with Sochii, Aoi arrived in Asteria not too long ago with little to her name. Even less to her name than in Sailand due to the fact that they had removed her collar to give the impression she was, well, normal for a while. The last thing the Supernus needed were to have less slaves at their command. Not entirely set on the idea of being identified as a +anima everywhere she went due to the fact +anima here were treated less kindly, rather than being adopted (was how she thought of it as).
Her original, though he still is, master off adapting to some of the local cuisine, looked at the list the superiors had given her. Though having committed it to memory, she liked the reassurance that she wasn't forgetting anything. The blue haired girl tucked the paper into her jacket pocket that laid atop of her long white dress, the bottom tips of which brown and gray from travel. She only wore it upon insistence of Sochii, though knowing full well that in their travels, white wasn't going to last very long in a nice condition. She let out a soft sigh, tucking a few strands of her blue hair behind her ear before progressing.
Today's task was to record the amount of +anima that showed up to such outlandish races. In such a time, yet they still enticed +anima to come out for a few prizes! It was like a death wish! The odd thing was that she didn't know how to read or write. She had been a fisherman's daughter, after all. They couldn't afford school and, truthfully, didn't need it in that kind of business. She had a few lessons from Sochii, but they rarely stuck. Instead, she pulled out a notepad and pen from her satchel and began to draw what she saw. Seeing two dog-like +animas, she would draw a dog and scratch two tally marks near it.
"Excuse me! Pardon me!" she could hear Sochii yell, like he had expected them to move once they saw him (a thought that had occurred many times) as he blundered his way through the crowd, knocking over a few people on the way, until he found Aoi. "Finished yet?" he asked her, her ears picking up a few hints that he was bored. Or had pissed someone off. With a shake of her head, she continued to progress in her recordings, Sochii leaning against a wall, his eyes scanning the crowd wildly for some entertainment.

Teriel jumped when he heard someone call his name. Although the voice became all too familiar and clear to him as he felt Patti cuddling up to him. "Patti!! It's really you!" He said joyously as he hugged her back. Then his ears perked up when he heard a bell ringing. "Gotta go! Race time! I will meet you right back here!" He said as he hurried off the the racing gates.
He made sure his harness was on tight so he could pull well. Then he headed to the starting line. He had asked for an 800 pound load instead of the typical 500 pound one they used normally. Eventually they agreed, and as he got into his place he got looks from the others. Ones that said how dumb he was, to how he responded with a wry grin. No wheels hinged these loaded wagons, but it would work.
So the gun was fired and Teriel strained mockingly as if he were having a very hard time. Once the other competitors got six feet into the twenty foot field he set forth. The wagon hauled along easily behind him as he galloped forward. Each one he passed with the same wry grin as if he was saying that he told them so. He reached the finish line in no time, about eight feet in front of second place.

Aoi tugged at her master's sleeve, pointing in the direction of the races. "Hm? You want to watch?" Sochii asked. He waited a few seconds, looking up at the slightly cloudy sky before giving a shrug of his shoulders. "Might as well." He bent down onto one knee as she hopped on his shoulders, allowing her to see over the crowd, still the pen and pad in her hands. By the end of the race, she managed to catch sight of two horse contestants, three more dog-like +animas, a bear +anima and an ox as well. And this was only the pulling race! She was truly amazed. Back at the Acies base, not a lot of +anima gave their all into the tasks at hand -and usually for good reasons- so such a display of power was amazing to her.
"Yeah, yeah," Sochii groaned as he set her down, noticing that spark in her eyes. "It's all exciting, but we don't come here to be tourists." Aoi bit at the inside of her cheeks, understanding what he was saying, but still wanting to watch, even if it wouldn't be all that productive. They had been working for a couple days on end. No, actually, she had been the one working days on end. It wasn't something she didn't mind doing, but a break would be appreciated.
"Please?" she asked, nodding her head towards the prize-center. She wanted to go talk to the other +anima. No... she might not even be able to talk. Sochii could do that, though. He was good with words, or perhaps that was her biased opinion. She liked everything about him, finding it hard to see the wrong in him. Even if she did, nothing could change how she viewed him. The same went visa versa with Sochii's feeling towards the blue haired girl.
His heart skipped a beat at the single word. Most of the time, she stayed silent. Did she really want the company of another +anima? What was so different about these guys compared to those back at the base, he thought to himself as he scratched his head. "Fine," he said, rolling his eyes at the girl's smile, watching as he body bounced away towards the winners of the races, stopping short of the gathering by a few meters. How typical of her, he thought with a smile, following her and leading her to the group.
"Hey, this girl," he began, jerking his thumb towards the jellyfish +anima, "is a big fan." The rest of the conversation was comprised of yes/no questions or the Acies leader answering in place for her. The only thought in his head that managed to replace that of his annoyance of the situation was: at least she is happy. Plus the thought of a nice song for the night now that she was in a good mood.

Patti cheerfully ran over to find Teriel at the winners area. Along the way she accidentally bumped into a blue haired girl lightly. "Sorry, excuse me~" She said with a polite little bow before scampering off to the main stand. There she saw Teriel standing with a blue ribbon attached to his harness. She waved to him and waited for him to reach her.
"Teriel! You were great!" She started proudly. "Your load looked heavier than the others though. Did they set that up for you on purpose?" She asked. Although she nodded in understanding after he quickly explained he had requested such. "Wow. You took 800 pounds and all the others took 500? You must really feel proud~" She kept complimenting her friend. Smiling when he blushed slightly, noticing how cure he looked when he did that.
She then remembered something and pulled up her pouch and opened it to take out her valuable locket. "Remember when you gave me this?" She asked Teriel as he responded with a grin and a nod. "I have kept it close to me ever since. It is special, and the most important item to me, because it's from you." She said sweetly with a cute smile.

Aoi was grateful that Sochii answered their questions for her. She merely enjoyed being around other +anima, though she had never intended to actually talk to them or anything, announcing her presence was all him. Listening to others was her favorite thing, she felt. It gave her time to keep to herself and think without really being alone, giving in to answering a few questions with either a shake or bob of her head. At some point, Sochii got into talking with the crowd of +anima like she wasn't there. Good, she liked it like that.
A shine twinkled in the corner of her eye, snapping her attention away from the group and towards a couple, the girl holding up a locket that shone brightly in the sunlight. Timidly, she tiptoed backwards, silently leaving the group that had now gone off track into talking about the purple haired man and his valiant efforts in the past (mostly over-exaggerating his childhood vigilante group). The turn in conversation, without a doubt, happened because he willed it so. He was always such a ready leader with charisma that would have people following his every step, if only he wasn't so lazy.
Aoi walked towards the couple, only overhearing the last tidbits of their conversation. When the two took a moment in silence (catching their breath or changing topics, perhaps) the blue haired girl did something she didn't often so: started talking without realizing it. "If your pride hadn't taken over, you could have won first place," she said, the tone of her voice monotone though pleasantly smooth. Why someone would knowingly make things harder, she could never understand. Maybe it was a guy's thing, trying to show off. But if he wanted to show off, he would have started where everyone else had, winning first place by a long shot. If he didn't want to attract attention to himself, giving the others a head start and asking for more weight wasn't exactly the way to go about it.
Sochii enjoyed talking about himself probably more than he liked Aoi's company. Well, by a fraction, at least, so when she left, it had taken him a few moments to realize that she had gone. His first thought was panic, scared she had left him, daring an escape or that some slave trader from Sailand had snatched her up. "Hey, guys, I'll see 'ya," he said, waving a bit before walking off quickly to catch up with the girl, hearing the sound of her voice. She... she had spoken! He couldn't resist it and walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her as if to say "she's mine".
"Who are these friends you've found?" he asked, a small snarl in his voice (jealousy, perhaps?). Aoi stayed silent, looking at the couple, waiting for a form of recognition that she had spoken to them.
